Miss Lisa’s Book Review – The BFG

Books are ALWAYS a great adventure. Whether they are books for entertainment, education, easy afternoons or evenings, books can take you away to some fabulous places. Have you ever felt that way about one of your favorite books? With the new movie “The BFG” coming out, from the inspiration of the book with the same name by Roald Dahl, I would encourage you to see it, then why not pick up the book and read it for yourself, or for your whole family?

The BFG (Big Friendly Giant) by Roald Dahl (Elementary Grade Chapter Book Readers-starting with 2nd grade) For little Sophie, the big friendly giant is NOT the monster you have heard about—no siree! Join her as she asks the BFG’s help to stop all the evil giants from invading England—saving many of her friends in the process AND making a new one! This is a read around book your whole family would enjoy! Read it to your preschoolers, or have an older sibling do it!

If you love this tale as I’m sure you will, it may SURPRISE you to know some of his other wonderful books inspired movies such as Matilda and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory! This is a fantastic way to introduce your children to easy chapter books and inspire them to keep reading! Here is a listing of some of the titles I would recommend, but you would not believe how long the list of his complete written works is! You could ring in the New Year with them, but DEFINITELY check these out:

Chapter books for children: The Witches, The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, Matilda, The BFG, Going Solo, George’s Marvellous Medicine, Danny the Champion of the World, James and the Giant Peach, The Twits, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, Boy Tales of Childhood, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Esio Trot, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The Magic Finger.

Enjoy your day friends, and take care!
