Miss Lisa’s Book Review – County Fair

In the jungle here at Amazone, we really value fun traditions! And, here in our hometown, and many across America I suspect, next week is our COUNTY FAIR! You can go with your family, and for a small admission fee see many great exhibits, animals and animal contests and shows, demonstrations, and SO MUCH MORE! In America, they give cities and states a break from every day life and give opportunities to show skills and talents, and enjoy the company of friends and families.

Actually, the tradition of a fair has been around for a LONG time!:

The Roman empire conducted public fairs almost 2000 years ago!
Kumbh Mela which happens in India every twelve years, is one of the largest gatherings in the world, with over 60 MILLION people!
The funnel cake originated in American fairs by the Mississippi River. We couldn’t have a fair without them!

So, in honor of this GREAT tradition, let’s read some of the antics of fairs in this wonderful book:

Dooby Dooby Moo by Doreen Cronin and Betsy Lewin (Preschool – 2nd grade) is the hilarious tale of what happens when the farmer’s animals enter the fair talent competition. You’ll love it! Also, check out their adventures ON the farm in Click Clack Moo and Cows That Type, Duck for President and Giggle, Giggle, Quack.

So, enjoy the fair friends, and then come visit us and tell us ALL about it! We can’t wait to hear YOUR stories!

Happy days, friends!
