Miss Lisa’s Book Review – A Series of Unfortunate Events

Well, my jungle friends, have you enjoyed sleeping in? Swimming with friends or playing outside? Or perhaps you have been at the park, the zoo, or the wonderful jungle here at Amazone for some cool out of the sun time, playing on our wonderful indoor play gym, laser tag, or large game room? Sometimes even in summer it is nice to come out of the sun!

I hope that whatever you are doing, you are including reading some great books as part of your summer routine! Remember many of our local libraries have summer reading programs which reward YOU for either hearing some great books, or reading them yourselves, and I know one great set of libraries in our Medina County that is featuring their program, “One World, Many Stories.” It is so easy to follow and there is a special prize reward when you finish 15, 30, and 50 reading increments! Really sweet!

To continue to give you some great reading ideas for the summertime, why don’t you consider great chapter series books? These are great for YOU, my 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade readers, and a great one to start off with is Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events, following the adventures of the three Baudelaire children and their evil Uncle Olaf. Thirteen books that are great easy reads will keep you in suspense, laughing, and wondering what will happen next all summer long!

For my younger readers who are beginning or are still enjoying sitting on a loving lap and hearing stories read, consider the wonderful Maisy books by Lucy Cousins. Wonderful easy reads for beginning readers and for preschoolers, the brightly colored illustrations and adventures of Maisy and her friends will make for great times!

I hope you are enjoying this wonderful time out of school, and I look forward to seeing YOU on Wednesday’s 11:00 a.m. at Amazone for my story time! Come sing and listen with me!

Take care my friends,

Miss Lisa
